If you select countries, you can compare how they have done over time. How do North and South Korea compare? How about Hong Kong and Singapore? When Fidel Castro retired, there were a number of people defending the performance of Cuba on various blogs. They claimed that Cuba had done as well economically as the Dominican Republic or Mexico. Compare all three. What do you conclude? Some of the African countries are interesting to watch because you can see the effect of AIDs. See if you can find a few of them.
10. The text mentioned the idea of resource curse. Search the Internet and see what more you can find about it. What are some of the countries that supposedly are so cursed? Are conflict diamonds an example of a resource curse?
